Abu Dhabi Police Conference, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2015 – this presentation provided an overview on the Evolution of Best Management Practices and invited delegates to download a complementary copy of the Organizational Excellence Framework.

Alberta Council of Technologies, Edmonton and Calgary, Canada, 2015 – two presentations were made at conferences. Incubation and Innovation: If You Can’t Measure It you Can’t Manage It – included co-presenters from Sweden and New Zealand and shared best practices for economic development authorities, incubators and businesses. The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Evaluating its Effectiveness focused on best practices in new product development and recommended an approach to improve performance and a balanced system of measurement to monitor it.

American Society for Quality, Vancouver, Canada, 2015 – this presentation showcased The Future Consultancy, Working with Organizations to Implement QMS and Benchmark Performance. It provided an overview of the Organizational Excellence Framework publication and the turn-key consulting toolkit that accompanies it.

this presentation, 

The Future of Organizational Excellence, provided an opportunity for delegates to participate in a simulation exercise that focused on the future of organizational excellence and concluded with an overview of the consulting toolkit being used to add value to client engagements.

American Society for Quality, Vancouver, Canada, 2014 – this presentation, Organizational Excellence Framework, A Guide for Practitioners,  provided an overview of a new publication that fills a gap in the quality literature by integrating the leading global excellence models and providing implementation guidelines for the user.

Ottawa, Canada, 2013 –
this presentation, Excellence in Canadian Development Cooperation: Quality Management Systems, provided an overview of the Organizational Excellence Framework, shared how international development professionals could apply the Framework to their own practice and client projects.

Canadian Quality Congress, Calgary, Canada, 2013 – this presentation, Introducing Organizational Excellence in Developing Countries, discussed how an excellence model could be used in developing countries to improve the performance of organizations and thereby contribute to the economy, trade and resident quality of life.

Travel Alberta Conference, Banff, Canada, 2012 – this presentation,  
What is Organizational Excellence and How Do You Achieve It? ,  provided an overview of the Organizational Excellence Framework and shared how tourism operators could use the Framework to improve their performance and align with the Travel Alberta strategy.

World Business Capability Congress, Auckland, New Zealand, 2012 – this presentation, Organizational Excellence Framework, provided an overview of the Organizational Excellence Framework publication, shared feedback from consulting professionals and workshop participants, and announced the development of the new Caribbean Centre for Organizational Excellence.

Research

The Global Encyclopedia of Public Administration, Public Policy and Governance (Springer International Publishing Switzerland) was recently published by Editor in Chief, Ali Farazmand. I was invited and honored to author the Chapter on ‘Organizational Excellence’ doi:10.1007/978-3-319-31816-5_16-1. The Chapter covers key research findings, benefits of using an excellence model, contents of an excellence model and implementation guidelines. It concludes with the challenge that remains – increasing awareness with the working population about excellence models so that organizations can improve performance and thereby contribute to the local economy, trade and resident quality of life.

Working in cooperation with the Organizational Excellence Technical Committee (QMD, ASQ), a new research project was launched in 2015. The ‘First Global Assessment on the Current State of Organizational Excellence‘ will study the culture of excellence and deployment of best management practices by organization size, industry sector and country.

Working in cooperation with the Alberta Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association in 2006, a survey was administered and report written to capture the current state of ‘Organizational Excellence in the Road Building and Heavy Construction Industry’ and future opportunities.

Working in cooperation with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada in 2006, a survey was administered and report written to capture the current state of ‘Healthy Workplace in the Canadian Tourism Industry’ and future opportunities.

Corporate Training

Organizational Excellence – to assist consultants working with organizations to improve performance, a turn-key toolkit has been developed that builds on the Organizational Excellence Framework publication authored by Dawn Ringrose in 2010. The toolkit includes scenario games, an automated assessment and reporting tool, workshops that use a holistic or modular approach, and a train-the-trainer program.
